Wayne has built mars, flung Jessica Simpson through the air on a wire, blown up a Yugo, been in Gary Coleman’s closet, had awkward conversations with Donald Trump, recorded in studio two at Abbey Road, and spent countless hours waiting for Sean “P-Diddy” Combs to show up on set.
He is the currently the CCO of VMLY&R NY. Prior to that he was Deputy CCO of McCann, focused on managing the Verizon account across multiple IPG agencies and overseeing other partners. The Super Bowl campaign honoring first responders, The Team That Wouldn’t Be Here, made the USA Today Ad Meter’s Top 5 spots, won three Lions at Cannes and had the highest share of voice in social media of any advertiser in the big game.
Prior to McCANN, Wayne was the creative lead on Walmart, working with Saatchi, Publicis, and their partner agencies to shift perceptions of the brand. His Walmart work for the Oscars won at Cannes, and garnered the Time Magazine headline “One of the best movies at the 2018 Oscars was a one-minute Walmart commercial.” His Famous Cars spot for the brand has also received critical acclaim.
Before running Walmart, Wayne had his own agency, Cog NYC, where he had Boar’s Head, LG Appliances and many other accounts. He has also worked for JWT, TAXI NY, Fallon, Wieden + Kennedy, Kirshenbaum + Bond, Cliff Freeman & Partners and Ammirati & Puris. As ECD at JWT, he created the primetime CBS animated holiday special Yes, Virginia for Macy’s, as well as award-winning campaigns for JetBlue and Cadbury. Under his leadership, TAXI NY grew from a handful of employees to a creative agency with over 50 people and a dozen clients. While there, the 4A’s voted it the best small agency in America two years in a row.
His work for ESPN, Starbucks, Pepsi, Virgin Mobile, Amp’d Mobile, Staples, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Fox Sports, Halls, Macy’s, Adopt US Kids, GoDaddy and other clients has resulted in numerous Cannes Lions, One Show pencils, Effie’s, Webbies and the Jay Chiat Planning Award. And the New York Post called his Virgin Mobile “Chrismahanukwazakah” commercial the best holiday spot of all time.
Wayne also spent 5 years as Chair of the AdCouncil’s Creative Review Committee and worked with the 4A’s as a mentor in their Institute for Advanced Advertising Studies program. He has been a judge at the One Show and jury chair for the Art Director’s Club Hybrid awards, which honors the most innovative and game-changing work.
